Promise Zones
As part of the 15 in 5 Campaign to deliver more Promises to 15 million at-risk young people in the next five years, the America’s Promise Alliance will partner with 10-12 targeted communities - called Promise Zones - to bring more Promises to more children through the three National Action Strategies.
The Alliance will provide these Promise Zones with financial, technical and staff support to develop and document enhanced and expanded programs, as well as to create new initiatives that will bring more Promises to more of the young people in their communities.
Each Promise Zone has a goal to reach at least 15,000 youth during the five-year project. This will be accomplished by:
- Engaging both community leaders and service providers to combine resources.
- Incorporate 15 school or community centers “hubs” connected to at least one “dropout factory” high school.
- Create initiatives around low-performing schools or other places where youth gather and could receive support services.
- Effectively collaborate to continue the delivery of Promises long past the end of the five-year grant period.
