Journalism Award
In partnership with the Journalism Center on Children & Families, America’s Promise Alliance is launching its first annual award for coverage of youth issues.
As the Alliance seeks to generate action from awareness, two award categories were developed to uplift these goals. The America’s Promise Journalism Award for Awareness will recognize a story that alerts the public about a pressing issue for young people. The Journalism Award for Action will go to the journalist that effectively creates a sense of urgency and inspires communities into action.
Recipients will be selected from a pool of the current year’s Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism Award winners. Each recipient will receive a $5,000 honorarium from the Alliance in addition to receiving the Casey prize.
The award will be presented on October 27, 2009 at the Newseum in Washington, DC.
